Authorship
The e-RPM journal promotes the active participation of the academic community in the dissemination of scientific knowledge. To ensure an equitable distribution of publication opportunities and to properly recognize intellectual contributions, the following authorship policy is established, based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE):
The identification of authors in an academic document must follow certain standards to guarantee clarity, proper acknowledgment, and correct attribution of the work. Each author may have one (1) main author per volume per year, and up to two (2) co-authors. Similarly, the e-Rev. P. Med. reserves the right to reject applications from candidates with a greater number of authors than those stipulated in these guidelines.
Authorship Criteria:
An author of a published work is considered to be any person who has made a significant intellectual contribution to it, fulfilling the following three requirements:
Substantial Contribution: Participation in the conception and design of the work, or in the acquisition, analysis, and interpretation of the data that support the publication.
Participation in Drafting: Contribution to the writing of the manuscript or substantial critical review of its intellectual content.
Final Approval: Approval of the final version of the manuscript to be submitted for publication.
Those who do not meet the three criteria mentioned should only be acknowledged in the acknowledgments section.
Submission Recommendations:
To avoid issues of fictitious or unrecognized authorship, it is recommended that all authors agree on their contributions and the order of appearance in the manuscript before submission. To specify individual contributions, e-RMS suggests using the taxonomy CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy):
• Conceptualization: Ideas; formulation or evolution of the overall research objectives and goals.
• Data Curation: Management activities to annotate, clean, and maintain research data for initial use and subsequent reuse.
• Formal Analysis: Application of statistical, mathematical, computational, or other formal techniques to analyze or synthesize study data.
• Fundraising: Acquisition of financial support for the project leading to this publication.
• Research: Conducting research and the research process, specifically performing experiments or collecting data/evidence.
• Methodology: Development or design of the methodology; creation of models.
• Project Management: Responsibility for managing and coordinating the planning and execution of the research activity.
• Resources: Provision of study materials, reagents, supplies, patients, laboratory samples, animals, instrumentation, computer resources, or other analytical tools.
• Software: Programming, software development; design of computer programs; Implementation of computer code and supporting algorithms; testing of existing code components.
Supervision: Responsibility for supervision and leadership in the planning and execution of research activities, including external mentoring of the core team.
Validation: Verification, either as part of the activity or separately, of the overall replicability/reproduction of results/experiments and other research products.
Visualization: Preparation, creation, and/or presentation of published work, specifically data visualization/presentation.
Writing – original draft: Preparation, creation, and/or presentation of published work, specifically the writing of the initial draft (including substantive translation).
Writing – review and editing: Preparation, creation, and/or presentation of published work by members of the original research group, specifically critical review, commentary, or revision – including pre- and post-publication stages.
Considerations:
The restriction on primary authorship applies to the role of first author or corresponding author, as defined in the publication.
Participation as a reviewer is not subject to these limitations.
This policy aims to foster collaboration, enable greater participation from researchers in the journal, and ensure appropriate recognition of significant intellectual contributions.
The e-RPM editorial team reserves the right to review and adjust this policy as necessary for the optimal functioning of the journal.
