Similarity and AI

In light of the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in the creation of academic content, the Editorial Board of the e-Journal Praxis de la Medicina (e-Rev. P. Med.), in accordance with international guidelines, including those of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), which defines criteria for authorship, conflicts of interest, and transparency in biomedical publishing, establishes the following policies, aimed at preserving the integrity, transparency, and rigor in the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge.

TO MANUSCRIPT AUTHORS

Essential Human Contribution: Manuscripts generated exclusively by AI will not be permitted. All work must reflect a substantial contribution from the author in the analysis, interpretation, and argumentation. If it is determined that the content has been generated primarily by AI without this contribution, it will be rejected before publication or retracted if it has already been published.

Responsibility for AI-Assisted Content: Authors are fully responsible for verifying, validating, and correcting any AI-generated content, considering risks such as bias, misinformation, and potential data inconsistencies.

Transparency in the Use of AI Technologies: Authors must declare whether they used tools such as Large Language Models (LLM), chatbots, or image generators during the manuscript preparation. This information must be specified in the cover letter and in the manuscript itself, within the Methods or Materials and Methods sections (if used for analysis, graphics, or data collection) and Acknowledgments (if used for writing assistance).
Intellectual Property and Originality: The use of AI must not compromise the originality of the content or violate intellectual property rights. Authors must ensure that their manuscript is free of plagiarism, including the proper use of citations and the ethical generation of images using AI.
Mandatory Human Authorship: AI technologies (e.g., ChatGPT) cannot be listed as authors, as they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, or originality of the work. Authorship rests exclusively with human beings responsible for all submitted content.

TO MANUSCRIPT REVIEWERS

Independent and well-founded evaluation: Peer review is an essential pillar of the editorial process. Therefore, the use of AI tools to generate review reports or conduct editorial evaluations is prohibited.
Reviewer's ethical commitment: Observations and decisions must be based on the reviewer's critical judgment, expert knowledge, and methodological experience. Delegating this responsibility to AI compromises the quality and credibility of the editorial process.
Consequences for non-compliance: If the use of AI in the preparation of reports is detected, the reviewer will be excluded from future collaborations with the journal, preserving the academic standards that underpin our editorial mission.

The Editorial Committee of the e-Revista Praxis de la Medicina (e-Rev. P. Med.) adheres to these principles and is committed to maintaining active oversight throughout the editorial process, promoting academic integrity and respect for the rights of authors, reviewers, and readers.

SIMILARITY

Authors should be aware that all manuscripts will be evaluated using Turnitin. Those with a similarity index exceeding 20% will be rejected.

ANTI-PLAGIARISM

The e-Journal Praxis de la Medicina is firmly committed to ensuring the originality of published works and preventing any form of academic plagiarism. In accordance with COPE guidelines and international best editorial practices, all received manuscripts will be reviewed using similarity detection tools before peer review.

Plagiarism is defined as the total or partial reproduction of content without proper attribution, as well as the misuse of data, images, or ideas belonging to others. Authors must ensure that their contributions are original and that all sources have been correctly cited.

If plagiarism is detected, the manuscript will be rejected immediately, and additional measures may be taken, including notification to the authors' affiliated institutions. The journal reserves the right to retract publications if plagiarism is subsequently detected.

The anti-plagiarism policy applies to all stages of the editorial process and constitutes a fundamental ethical principle for preserving scientific integrity and institutional prestige.
