The article discusses TPM, a global strategy that has proven to reduce maintenance costs, increase equipment availability and improve quality. However, its global adoption has been uneven, with some regions leading its implementation while others face challenges such as lack of top management commitment, resistance to change and insufficient staff training. IoT technology has been instrumental in the evolution of TPM, as it enables real-time data collection that facilitates predictive maintenance, improved overall equipment efficiency (OEE) and early detection of problems. The development of maintenance management software (CMMS) has also been key, enabling companies to more efficiently manage maintenance activities. The integration of CMMS with other business systems has improved alignment with overall objectives. The Continuous Improvement (CI) strategy is key to maximizing efficiency and quality in the context of TPM by identifying and correcting faults, facilitating operator involvement and creating a continuous learning environment. CM applied in quality management makes it possible to identify and correct defects in products before they are shipped to the customer, improving quality and reducing costs. Therefore, we can see that the trends highlight the importance of the integrated strategy of TPM, IoT technology, CMMS systems and continuous improvement to improve efficiency, reliability and productivity, although the challenges of adapting to different geographical contexts persist.
