Peruvian scientific journals in agroindustrial engineering: a qualitative survey

Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the scientific publishing ecosystem related to agroindustrial engineering in Peru by conducting an inventory and qualitative analysis of scientific journals. A qualitative, documentary-based approach with an exploratory design was employed, involving a review of institutional websites, publishing platforms, and academic databases for the period 2008–2026. Based on inclusion criteria, 49 scientific journals were identified. The results show that 61.2% are specialized journals and 38.8% are multidisciplinary; 91.8% are published by public universities; and indexing is concentrated in Latindex (83.7%), with limited presence in high-impact databases. Four emerging categories were identified: scientific interdisciplinarity, editorial digitization, scientific visibility, and open access. It is concluded that the Peruvian agroindustrial publishing ecosystem is in the process of consolidation, with progress in digitization and open access, but facing challenges in internationalization and editorial quality.
